Police in east Wiltshire are urging residents and visitors to the area to be vigilant following recent thefts from vehicles parked at local beauty spots.
Recently we’ve received reports of incidents of this nature at areas including Knapp Hill, Martinsell Hill and Pewsey Downs.
We’re urging people to follow our crime prevention advice to help keep your vehicle and belongings safe:
• Always make sure your vehicle is locked.
• Close all the windows and sunroof.
• Take items with you, or, if you are leaving them in the vehicle, please make sure they are hidden.
• Hide electrical items and remember that leaving sat nav mounts, suction cup marks on windows or having cables on view, gives away that there might be valuables inside.
PC Emily Grigor, from the Devizes Area Community Policing Team, said: “We know that as lockdown eases many people will be venturing out to our countryside and beauty spots to meet with friends or go for walks.
“Nobody wants their day out ruined by a thief gaining access to their vehicle and stealing valuables.
“There are basic steps you can take to help protect your car and belongings, so please be vigilant, and always report suspicious activity to us, either via our website or by calling 101.”
