The Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group was first created by West Lavington Parish Council in January 2012.The Group membership has been invited from the widest cross-section of the community as practicable. At the time of submission of the Neighbourhood Plan to Wiltshire Council pursuant to Regulation 15 of the Neighbourhood Planning (General) Regulations 2012 and consultation pursuant to Regulation 16, membership is as listed in the Neighbourhood Plan Steering Group Membership document
available in the Download Library Neighbourhood Plan Governance).
The Terms of Reference for the Group
, and its structure, are also available there.
The Parish Council hears an update report from the Chairman of the Steering Group at each of its monthly meetings, providing challenge and scrutiny of work in progress. Key ‘gateway’ stages of the planning process are brought for final decision, acknowledging the democratic accountability of the Council and its role as lead ‘nominated body’.
The Steering Group is made up of a number of Parish Councillors and volunteers. A small Core Group has also been created from within the Steering Group to lead the basic administration of the programme and to ensure the smooth running of the Steering Group’s business.
Minutes of the Steering Group are available in Download Library Neighbourhood Plan Meetings.
Links to Wiltshire Council are maintained through liaison with a Link Officer, nominated from its Spatial Planning team.
